I’m a Canadian molecular biologist currently pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering at Stanford, focused on adapting quantitative biochemical approaches to the study of RNA thermodynamics. I formerly worked on CRISPR-based diagnostics and the physical interactions underlying their efficiencies in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton, and worked on holistic “systems” based approaches of studying and potentially curing HIV infections at McGill. I spend my free time riding bikes, making music, working up new recipes, writing creative code, and taking photographs.

While on exchange at the University of Melbourne, this blog/gallery kept friends and family updated on my travels in the Southern Hemisphere, all the while providing something to look at while they waited for updates. Now, it is as much a keepsake as it is an unofficial portfolio, should anyone be interested in my prints or having me at an event (contacts below).

A long while ago, I briefly maintained a blog called “The Weekly Bit” to keep myself and curious friends entertained. Feel free to peruse the archive here, but be warned it’s merely the ravings of a once conceited undergrad; I think your time would be better spent among the galleries.

Until next time,

Owen

As such, I have limited the quality of these photos to retain some form of proprietorship over their likeness. If you are interested in using any of my photographs, please contact me beforehand, so that I may keep a register of their dissemination and so that I may give you a high quality version of the work that I am proud of.
